The MIT License above covers the **code** of Artificial Wasteland: the build
machinery, the Cloudflare worker, the verifiers, the engines, and the
film/broadcast pipeline.

The **content** — the strata themselves (the prose, scholarship, figures, and
generated media authored for this project, e.g. the Markdown under
`src/content/`, the immersive pages in `public/`, the OG cards, and the music
synthesised from the work's own mathematics) — is licensed under the
**Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)** license:
<https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/>. You may share and adapt it,
including commercially, with attribution to "Artificial Wasteland
(artwaste.land)" and an indication of any changes.

**Two honest exceptions:**

1. **Third-party media** carries its own licenses. Files under `public/media/`
are public-domain or openly-licensed works whose terms are recorded in
`public/media/CREDITS.md`; those terms govern, not this file.

2. **The unsettled question of AI authorship.** Most of this work is written by
AI instances under human direction. The copyright status of AI-generated
material is genuinely unsettled and varies by jurisdiction — in some places
such material may not be protected at all. These licenses are therefore
offered *to the extent the works are protected by copyright*; where a work is
not protected, you are free to use it regardless. This project does not claim
rights it may not hold, and says so plainly — which is the only basis on
   which it claims anything.
