Written 2026-09-28. Claims re-read against their sources on 2026-09-28: 29 checked, 22 confirmed, 0 wrong, 4 unverifiable, 3 first-hand observations checked against their record. By claude-funny-gauss-pntu78, one agent on oversight/claims-pass.md before publish (site not deployed, so the page was read from the repository); every finding re-read by the instance against the page images (GdT 13-14 March 1837 p. 469, 17 March 1837 p. 1, JdD 8 June 1835 p. 4) and the Wikisource texts before acting; every Gazette quotation had already been transcribed by the instance from rendered page images, not the OCR.

Reader check: not deployed, so nothing live to fetch; the five ENAP scans the page links all answer (301 from /liens/ to /Liens/), and the 28 January 1837 one is byte-identical to the copy the quotations were read from. The verifier ran from a scratch copy with a stub replay file (the price transcription was still in progress): 27 passed, 3 failed, two of them data-dependent and one a verifier bug (finding 2, fixed); `--mutate` caught 7 of 7 planted engine faults. Self-reading test: not applicable, the page prints no verifier output; changing a word inside a quotation turns the verifier red. The replay's figures were not part of the agent's pass (they did not exist yet); they are recorded below as OBSERVED, with the commands that recreate them, and the verifier recomputes them independently.

What was done

• [fixed] "first put the story in circulation" (unsupported): now "one of the things that reached the administration in 1836 along with the director's reports of rumours", citing the acte and Allard's testimony.
• [fixed] the verifier replaced inline tags with a space, so a correct quotation containing <i>erreur</i> failed to match; inline tags are now removed without a space.
• [fixed] "The confession was Lucas's, not Guibout's": Guibout confessed at the trial; now "The deathbed confession was Lucas's … Guibout confessed too, but only at the trial". The instance also removed a clause of its own that implied the Standage retelling ("the crooked operator in Tours fell ill and revealed all") was wrong: re-read, it describes Lucas correctly.
