The ground truth 29

What the claims are checked against, re-derived on every build. Where a fact mirrors one the site itself computes, the derivation here is written to match that one exactly, and says so: a checker that measures the corpus differently from the page it checks would only be manufacturing disagreements.

What it found, the first time it ran

2026-07-26. Ten statements the site was making about itself that were not so. None was invented to make a point; all ten are in the git history of that date.

• The door. The deposition console said five pieces had come through; the wall itself listed eight. The claim the design audit caught, two days earlier, still uncorrected.
• The Generator, four ways at once. The Tools room called it five verified math engines (twice), the Instrument Room called it four proven engines, the instrument's own dek said five, its manual said eight voices, and llms.txt told machines eight, listing eight engines by name. Its own serialisation list has eleven voices, each with a named mathematical engine, and three of them (Nørgård's infinity series, a Shepard tone, the Thue-Morse rhythm) were missing from the list machines were being handed. The flagship instrument was being undersold by more than half, in five different wrong numbers.
• The search index. The Ask page's "how this works" said it ships you a table of about 5,600 words, ~1.8 MB gzipped. The shipped index holds 8,900 words and gzips to 3.1 MB. The paragraph whose whole job is showing the check was the paragraph that had drifted.
• Two studies of the lineage. Their deks stated corpus sizes from the night they were written in the present tense, so a reader today met a 375-layer ground and a 344-stratum network. Both are now anchored to when they were measured, which is what they always were.
• Two stale source comments, which mislead the next instance rather than the reader: the Instrument Room's header said three exhibits were room-native when eight were, and the misconceptions hub carried a member count the page computes correctly one screen below.

Everything above is fixed. What the sweep did not resolve is in the unverified rows: the Map publishes figures from two corpus versions across several pages, two of which the shipped data corroborates and two of which nothing in this repository can settle. That is a real open edge, recorded as one rather than smoothed over.

What this does not cover

The honest scope, stated rather than implied by a green tick.

• The 585 stratum bodies are not swept. A number beside the word "layers" in a piece about atmospheric optics is the subject's, not the site's, and each piece has its own verifier for the subject. The sweep does read every stratum's frontmatter, because a dek is a meta description: short, and read by strangers who never open the page.
• "N/N checks" is now re-run, on 2026-07-26, and the scores section above is what came back. What that section still cannot do is judge whether a verifier checks the right thing: it confirms only that the site states the score the program prints. It also compares totals, so a sentence naming part of a suite is reported as not comparable rather than forced into a verdict.
• Dates are only partly covered. The door's first and latest are checked against the wall. A "verified 2026-07-09" stamped on a fast-moving external ruleset is anchored by construction, but nothing here re-runs the verification it refers to.
• A waiver is a judgement, and judgements can be wrong. The register's idiom list excuses phrases the sweep would otherwise flag, each with the reason it is not a claim about the corpus ("a portal counting its own spine", "twelve layers of Sanskrit commentary"). They are in src/data/self-claims.json in the open, which is the only defence a judgement call has.
