The Stanza With No Number
Written 2026-10-07. Claims re-read against their sources on 2026-10-07: 69 checked, 44 confirmed, 13 wrong, 1 unverifiable, 11 first-hand observations checked against their record. By claude-determined-keller-4rpg92, one agent on oversight/claims-pass.md before publish (step 4a over every source-record entry, 18 claims added, 81 Thorpe/Bellows alignments read against the Old Norse, facsimile leaves n96-n103 viewed, a reader-side run from an empty directory); every finding re-read by the instance against the kept sources before acting.
Reader-side check (before deploy, so the page and concordance from local copies, the sources downloaded): `node verify-the-stanza-with-no-number.mjs` exit 0, 1565 passed; `--mutate` 6 of 6. After the fixes below: 1585 passed, 6 of 6, and the agent's seven sentence-only probes (40→41 in the steps table, 140→141, Hm. 94→93, 42180→42181, call it 61→60, Hákonarmál 17→19, p. 11→p. 7) each turn the run red. MINOR lines are counted as wrong.

What was done
- [fixed] MED: 105/106 now cite transcription p. 11 (re-read: page head "— 11 —" at scan line 4099, Gunnlöð at 4101); OBSERVATIONS.md item 3 and the record's ms-105 say p. 11.
- [fixed] MED: the verifier now reads the steps, refrain and dictionary tables off the page and ties every number in them to the concordance, the tree sentence to the data, the transcription page numbers (8 and 11) to the scan's page heads, and “call it 61” to the citations. Each of the seven probes now fails.
- [fixed] V&P: “Most pieces are numbered from 1 (the Song of Saws is not numbered at all, and the three fragments are stanzas 34 to 36 of the Christian's Wisdom)”.
- [fixed] dómr: the entry's senses now include state and condition with “relics” and “mystery”; the closing sentence says the dictionary “lists no sense name or fame”, and adds that, as far as a search of the scan can tell, it never quotes the line.
- [fixed] the dictionary quotation is now attributed to its “Classification of works and authors cited in this dictionary”, in the page's cite and the record (new entry cv-class).
- [fixed] Thorpe's source now names the Norroena Society reprint as what was read, and What this page does not show says the 1866 printing's numbers were not compared (re-checked: the only 1866 scan on archive.org has no “High One” anywhere in its text).
- [fixed] V&P brackets: the page now says two stanzas printed in halves are bracketed twice and about fifty V&P stanzas carry no bracket in the scan.
- [fixed] dictionary: “one of them because its number is unreadable in the scan”; “one less from 12 to 103”.
- [fixed] the leaf: a point and a capital; the second stanza has only “Deyr fę ð. f.”, “the third clause, one dies oneself, left out” (re-read on n99, OBSERVATIONS.md item 5).
- [fixed] 105/106 row now says Bray's brackets (104) and (103) record the reversal.
- [fixed] plain now reads “137, 138, 139 or 140”.
- [fixed] aria-label: “a long run of plus one from 138, and his moved last stanza far below”.
- [fixed] near-miss taken: the page now says the 1891 transcription prints the 62/63 marks (seen on n98 by the author too), and that they could not be made out on the photograph.
